Difference between Ecological Psychology and Ecological rationality

This is a twitter thread on the difference between Ecological Psychology, which is often identified with Gibson, and Ecological rationality approach, which is developed primarily by people like Gerd Gigerenzer as a response to Heuristics and Bias perspective on human decision making.

What's the dif between Eco-Psy and Ecological rationality approaches in your opinion. Is it that Gigerenzer never has any boundary conditions, but just look at how real humans make decisions ?

I think they'll be good friends as soon as 1. ecol. rationality extends its research from passive "decision-trees" (etc.) to real-world encounters and 2. ecol. psych. starts getting more serious about decision-making (through active use of various perceptual cues/heuristics).

I think the biggest issue is the language barrier. Ecological rationality speak computationalist lingo which scares ecological psychologists away. But studying any actual decision-making process "in the wild" reveals that both approaches have much to contribute.
